Wedding Pet Care at The Don CeSar: Fiora, the Shiba Inu’s, Special Day
When couples picture including their dog in their wedding day, they often imagine a seamless, joyful experience. But behind the scenes, creating that kind of experience takes thoughtful planning, flexibility, and a deep understanding of each individual dog’s needs.
Ashley and Mike’s wedding at The Don CeSar was the perfect example of how professional wedding pet care can make all the difference, especially for a more sensitive pup like Fiora.
Meet Fiora: A Sweet, Sensitive Wedding Guest
Fiora, a 5-year-old Shiba Inu is gentle, friendly, and loved people watching, but she also needed a calm, predictable environment to feel comfortable.
Like many dogs, Fiora could become anxious in unfamiliar or high-energy situations. She wasn’t very food motivated and could even go on a hunger strike when overwhelmed. Her parents knew she wouldn’t thrive being boarded or staying alone in a hotel, which is why they prioritized finding a trusted wedding pet sitter in Tampa Bay who could love & care for her throughout the entire experience.
Their goal was simple: include Fiora in a meaningful way while making sure she felt safe, supported, and cared for.
A Customized Wedding Day Plan Built Around Fiora

One of the most important parts of our service is custom timeline creation for wedding pet care, and Fiora’s day was carefully planned from start to finish in coordination with the couple’s planner and vendor team.
From pickup to overnight care, every detail was designed around her needs:
A calm arrival at the venue with time to explore and decompress
Private moments with both Ashley and Mike during getting ready
Flexibility to step away for breaks, AC time, and quiet moments
A designated seat during the ceremony so she could be present without pressure
An early exit strategy if the environment became overwhelming
Even with unexpected weather causing the ceremony to move indoors, our team was able to pivot seamlessly while keeping Fiora’s comfort as the top priority.
Including Your Dog Without the Stress

Fiora did so good throughout the day, greeting her parents and participating in photos. As the ceremony began, she initially settled in, but as the environment became more stimulating, she started to feel a little overwhelmed.
Because we were fully focused on her, we were able to recognize those signs quickly and step away so her stress did not escalate.
This is exactly why couples choose professional wedding dog handlers instead of relying on a guest or friend.
There’s peace of mind in having someone who understands how to advocate for your pup in real time so you don’t have to think about it.
Full-Service Care Beyond the Wedding

Ashley and Mike also chose to include overnight pet sitting after their wedding, allowing Fiora to return to the comfort of her own home rather than staying in an unfamiliar place.
After the ceremony, we transported her safely home, supported her through her usual routines, and made sure she was settled for the night. Even with a little post-event excitement and a known tendency to get an upset stomach, she did well overall and eventually ate her dinner, which was a big win for a typically picky eater.
By the next morning, she was back into her routine with a walk, breakfast encouragement, and plenty of care before we wrapped up.
Why Wedding Pet Care Matters
Ashley and Mike’s wedding highlights something we see often as professional wedding pet sitters:
Every dog is different.
Some thrive in the spotlight, while others, like Fiora, need a more gentle and flexible approach.
Having a professional team means your dog’s experience is just as intentional as every other part of your wedding day.
From coordinating with your vendors to adjusting the timeline in real time, it ensures that your dog is included in a way that feels right for them.
Planning a Dog-Friendly Wedding in Tampa Bay
If you’re getting married in Tampa Bay, St. Pete Beach, or anywhere along Florida’s Gulf Coast and want to include your dog, planning ahead is key.
One of the reasons Ashley and Mike chose The Don CeSar is because it’s a truly pet-friendly wedding venue in Tampa Bay. Not only does the property welcome dogs for wedding celebrations, but it also allows pets in guest rooms, making it a great option for couples traveling with their dog or hosting guests who are doing the same.
Having a venue that is genuinely accommodating to pets makes a huge difference when planning a dog-friendly wedding. It allows for a smoother experience from getting ready through the celebration, while still ensuring your dog is comfortable and included in a way that feels natural.
Whether your pup is outgoing or more sensitive like Fiora, having a dedicated wedding pet care team allows you to be fully present while knowing your dog is in experienced, caring hands.
Because at the end of the day, including your dog isn’t just about having them there.
It’s about making sure they feel safe, supported, and part of the experience in a way that truly works for them.
