It is obvious that Flynn is very loved, not only by the couple, but by all of their friends & family!
We picked Flynn up with time to get exercise before any photos began on the wedding day. He’s 5 years old but still has the energy of a puppy. When Flynn saw his momma for the first time, we’re not sure who was more excited - him or the bride!
Flynn was receiving compliments all day long as he was rocking a custom suit that matched the groomsmen. He was hamming it up & adored all the love & attention!
We had a back up plan in place in case Flynn got too antsy during the ceremony, but he stayed up the entire time & was such a good boy! We stuck around for cocktail hour so Flynn could say hi to all of his friends & then dropped him back off at Pet Paradise for a well-earned dinner & much needed nap!
This adorable Corgi had the
BEST DAY EVER!
We asked the couple a few questions about including Flynn in the wedding day:
Why did you include your dog in your wedding?
Flynn is such a huge part of our lives that it seemed unconscionable for him to not be included in a celebration of our love. Our little family of three has been together through long distance, through a move to a new city and we just felt like it was so important to have him there with us when we took this next step. The first question we asked when venue shopping was: Is it dog friendly?!
What is the story of how your dog became a part of the family?
Chabeli had a dog all her life growing up, a poodle terrier mix named Lassy who lived to be 16! He died when she was in college and it soon became really apparent that life without a dog companion was far less fun. Manny had grown up without his parents letting him have a dog, so he was itching to get one, too.
But Manny was away for medical school in St. Maarten, an island near Puerto Rico, when Chabeli saw someone talking about an incredible corgi breeder in Missouri who had a liter of puppies. In an ideal world, we would have gotten Flynn when we were both together in the same place. But Chabeli's mom was at home taking care of her grandmother, so the time seemed right to get a puppy and have that extra support from family to care for him during the puppy days.
We did some research into the breeder and looked through the puppy photos and picked one out. Cheri, the breeder, came back and said, what about this other guy?
Flynn, she said, was the "calmed pup in the liter." We switched out choice and Chabeli picked him up at the airport in Miami a few weeks later. If he was the calmest pup in the liter, then my wall and my shoes need to have a talk with Cheri. Flynn ate through the dry wall, through sandal after sandal.
He's almost 5 now and people still ask me if he's a puppy because he's so hyperactive.
Manny came back from St. Maarten a year later and then after a few years in Miami we recently moved to Orlando with Flynn, who is living his best life going to doggy daycare frequently to get that energy out and enjoying dog parks with lakes.
Did you incorporate your dog into any other details on your wedding day?
Flynn was the ringbearer during the ceremony. We outfitted him with a custom navy suit with a sage bowtie to match the groomsmen and Chabeli's brother, the Man of Honor, walked him down.
His suit even had a little pillow in the back for the rings. We are pretty sure everyone was there to see him more than us, so we had him schmooze during cocktail hour too.
All dogs are the best dogs, but tell us something that makes your dog special?
Flynn has the magical ability of converting anyone into a dog lover. He's so incredibly affectionate and cuddly that it's impossible to not get attached to him. He puts on a show with the big puppy eyes.
And we always say he's a hooman doggo because at the park, he'll say hi to every single person there.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us about your dog?
Just that we are so grateful for all the wonderful work FairyTail Pet Care did on our big day.
Madi, our handler, was so professional and so ready to go. She had lint rollers for all of Flynn's shedding, water, she made sure to keep him active. We were shocked by how well he behaved and stayed still throughout the entire ceremony.
It was a best case scenario we didn't even think was possible!
