There was never a doubt that POTUS would be a part of his parent’s wedding day.
Melissa got POTUS as a puppy & they have been inseparable ever since. They’ve traveled around the country together & lived in multiple cities. POTUS walked his momma down the aisle & wore a sign that said “I Loved Her First”.
As the bride puts it, it wasn’t until she met Greg that their little family officially felt complete!
We asked the Bride a few questions about including POTUS in the wedding day:
Why did you include your dogs in your wedding?
We never considered not including our dog in our wedding. He is a part of our family.
St Pete is so dog friendly and one of our favorite places so it was a no brainer that he was going to be in the wedding.
What is the story of how your dogs became a part of the family?
I got POTUS as a puppy when I was living in DC in 2008. He has traveled around the country with me since. He has lived in Virginia, LA, Ohio and now in St Pete! He has driven cross country twice and is an excellent traveler.
Three years ago when I met my now husband, POTUS found his bestie!
POTUS and Greg are joined at the hip. Now that we have moved to St Pete they swim in the pool everyday and go looking for dolphins only the bay everyday. Greg was the missing piece of our family and now we are complete.
Did you incorporate your dogs into any other details on your wedding day?
POTUS walked me down the aisle and wore a sign that said I loved her first. He was a perfect boy!
We didn’t get announced at the reception, he did. The DJ announced his name and played Hail to the Chief as we all walked in the door. The guests really enjoyed that.
My husband and I are not formal people. We love having fun and making people laugh. That decision was made last minute while we were waiting to go into the reception. It was a big hit.
All dogs are the best dogs, but tell us something that makes your dogs special?
POTUS is special because even as a puppy he has been chill. We can take him anywhere and he gets along with anyone. No matter their age. He just relaxes into the environment and tries to meet as many people and doggie friends as he can.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us about your dogs?
We just moved to St Petersburg from Ohio at the end of May and POTUS is in doggie heaven! swimming, walks and new friends.
He may be 11 years old now, but you wouldn’t know it. He feels like a puppy again.
